Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation with a boss that maybe didn’t have your best interests in mind?
I know I can relate to that.
Leadership Coaching: Fast Fix or Lifelong Impact?
Some managers think that by sending employees for coaching that it will “fix” them.
Yet that’s not really what coaching is about.
Back when my manager suggested that I needed coaching, I eventually met a coach that focused on the needs of the individual.
In other words, she didn’t try to “fix” me or to focus on the needs of the whole company; rather she recognized what I really needed (versus what my boss said).
I think it’s important to say that I was open to being coached. Through that willingness, I even became inspired by the process – so much so that it changed the trajectory of my life path.
For several more years, I worked as an employee under my difficult manager.
With the help of my coach, I was able to identify how I wanted to interact with my manager. After many difficult conversations, clear communication, and setting some boundaries, we came to respect each other (even though we didn’t necessarily like or agree with each other).
Motivated by a Positive Coaching Experience
All the while, I was so motivated by the positive experience I had with coaching, that I attended the same training as my coach and ultimately decided to start my own business.
Over time, I continued to blend my love of knowledge and coaching by adding additional components to my style to make it my own (like incorporating brain science).
My experience leading and coaching teams taught me a key element that I incorporate into my work: to create a safe space for clients to explore challenges without judgement.
Without my manager insisting on “fixing” me, and the support and guidance of my coach back then, events could have turned our much differently.
And I’m not alone in finding a good coach - 95% of clients rate their coaches as "good" or "excellent." (2009 ICF Global Coaching Study)
As much as the benefits I received from professional coaching completely changed my own life, I’m also far from alone in this experience:
80% of people who receive coaching report increased self-confidence, and over 70% benefit from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills (2009 ICF Global Coaching Study)
My Focus Today as a Leadership Coach
Fast forward to 2022 and here I am! I focus on coaching new to mid-level managers, to grow their leadership skills and help them take their careers from good to great.
I am proud to hold professional coaching certifications from the Integrated Wellness Academy, the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and a Professional Coaching Certification (PCC) from the International Coaching Federation. I’m also certified in the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) Assessment and ELI 360.
Integrating coaching and development into my leadership helped me to not only be the go-to for rehabilitating failing business units, it also helped me support and cultivate up and coming leaders for the company I worked for. The years I spent learning through attending and facilitating leadership programs helped me to understand how under-utilized leadership development is when supporting new and mid-level leaders.
Today, I consider it my joyful job to coach others, rooted in a simple philosophy:
I want to help you be the best you can be.
Because I know you want to be the best you can.
Now, What About You?
Maybe you’re in a place now where you and your manager aren’t seeing eye-to-eye.
Or you’ve been told that something about you needs “fixing.”
It might feel like you’re stuck in a less than favorable situation and you don’t know how to rise out of it.
I hope my story may inspire you to know that you too, can achieve the results you want. And you don’t have to do it on your own.
Now that you know a little bit about my background and why it’s my mission to guide you to own your success, I’d love to have you join me for a brand-new webinar I developed.
